About

Sharon Kitching

From the studio depths comes a curation of paintings based around portrayals of the human condition, coupled with an Australian pre-occupation with sport. Studio sketches tend to be small paintings, mostly in oil on board, created as drafts for larger paintings, and often revisting the same concerns multiple times.

Kitching's paintings are about how things feel. more than they look. Playing with figurative elements, the process of painting shows the layers and elements that build up a painting, revealing the artifice that lies beneath.

Mariola Smarzak

"Underneath" , Mariola Smarzak's latest body of work, is inspired by the landscape. Several works in this series reveal her response to nest-like forms that appear to be in suspension as if still in the process of forming. Traces of previous marks and layers of paint are the beginnings of new colours and lines as they interweave on the canvas.

More of Mariola's work can be found online at her website and on Facebook
